5. Menunjuk pada nama bangunan atau mahakarya terkenal,
organisasi, hotel, pub and restaurant, dan fitur geografis

Contoh :
• the Empire State Building, the Taj Mahal , the Mona Lisa
• the United Nations, the School Organisation
• the Ritz, the Ritz Hotel, the Hotel Indonesia
• the Himalayas, the Canaries, the Atlantic (Ocean), the Amazon,
the Panama Canal

6. Digunakan untuk menunjukkan superlative (paling)
Contoh :
• Ari Atrian is the tallest boy in the class.
• It is the oldest building in the town.
• Who is the best manager?

Catatan :
‘The’ dapat digunakan untuk semua bentuk kata benda baik
tunggal dan jamak, countable ataupun uncountable nouns.
Contoh :
• the flower, the flowers, the water, the oil.
